How to Get Rid of FleasFleas are one of the most annoying pests you could get in a household. It’s not just restricted to pets either. They can end up on your clothing or skin when you come in contact with someone else’s pets. They can even hop on you from taking a walk through a garden or a park.

Once they get into your house, they can then grow and multiply. They can cause itching and even allergic reactions in some people. Furthermore, when guests come over, these fleas can be a real party crasher.

So how do you get rid of fleas?

Start With a Deep Cleaning

Start by cleaning all your carpets and the surfaces of your furniture. Rent an industrial strength carpet cleaner and use it on your entire home, paying careful attention to your bedroom and your living room.

Vacuum the floor under your bed and under your sofas. Wash all your bedding and all your furniture covers. Wash all your clothes. As well.

Wear White Socks

Wear white socks as you walk around your house. Any fleas that are on the floor will jump on your socks.

For one reason or another, fleas tend to jump on white clothing. When they’re against a white backdrop, they’re quite easy to identify.

Have a tub of soapy water on standby. Whenever you notice fleas on your socks, just take them out and throw them in the tub. The soap water will instantly kill them.

Clean Your Pets

Pets are the #1 cause of fleas. If you have pets that have fleas, no matter how much you clean the rest of your house, they’ll just keep spawning from your pets and disperse all over your house.

Clean your pets ever day while you’re on your flea hunt. Use a flea comb to find fleas and dump them into soapy water to kill them off.

Start using anti-flea shampoos to get the fleas out of your pets. These shampoos will kill all the fleas on your pet and prevent fleas from growing for a short period of time.

Sprinkle Anti-Flea Powder Throughout the House

Anti-flea powder will prevent fleas from growing and spreading throughout your house. This should only be used after you’ve done a thorough cleaning of your house.

Sprinkle the powder all over your floor. Make sure to cover your bedroom and the carpet areas near any doors facing the outside.

Leave it in your floor for a couple of weeks while you’re trying to get rid of the flea infestation. Once you’re done, simply vacuum up the remaining powder and use a wet cloth to blot away any powder spots that remain.

Getting rid of fleas isn’t nearly as difficult as getting rid of some other pests. The main challenge is keeping your pets free of fleas while you’re getting the rest of the house clean.
